Richland School District One Proudly announces Partnership with the American Red Cross
In celebration of the American Red Cross national touring exhibition, Richland One has produced a K - 8th grade curriculum portfolio highlighting the major functions and history of the Red Cross. The "Our National Treasure: The American Red Cross," curriculum portfolio features lessons covering topics such as Red Cross Diaster Services, Blood and Biomedical Services, International Services, Service to Armed Forces and Veterans, and Health and Safety. The lesson plans are aligned with State Standards, hands-on and interactive.

The "Our National Treasure: The American Red Cross" exhibit will open March 14 and run through June 30 at the South Carolina State Museum. Exhibit guests will learn about Clara Barton, the founder of the American Association of the Red Cross (now the American Red Cross) and other American Red Cross historical pioneers. Clara Barton was a former Massachusetts schoolterach and government worker who became famous for her care of wounded soldiers during the Civil War. The museum premier will also feature interactive exhibits and an impressive array of American Red Cross artifacts, photographs and personal stories collected over many years.
